(More customer reviews)This machine is a real workhorse. I worked in a tailor shop for years on a Bernina and fell in love with their machines, but could never afford one. This machine is as easy to use and works as well as a Bernina and I have since found out that Janome makes some of Bernina's machines for them, specifically the Bernette.

I just got this machine this week, but I absolutely LOVE it. I have gone through multiple layers of fleece without so much as a hiccup and have also done some finer work on thin cotton material, also without a hiccup.

It is a metal arm & base with some plastic parts. Has a storage box right on the front which is handy, and is very easy to change stitches, etc.

Definitely worth the money. You won't regret purchasing this machine.

(More customer reviews)We ordered 7 of these machines for our school sewing class, and each machine is in use approximately 1-2 hours per week.Upon receipt, one of the machines would not work, and we received a replacement.We have now been using the machines for about 6 weeks, and have consistently had problems with the bobbin casing dislocating and causing the needle to jam or break.The sewing instructor, who has extensive sewing experience, used the word temperamental to describe them and said that they are a nightmare for the frustrated students attempting to learn to sew.They were reasonably priced, but I guess you get what you pay for.

But when I read reviews about it, I found out a lot of buyers were complaining about its complexity and loud sound. that was the only reason I ended up buying brother xl-2600. believe it or not I found a brand new one with a great price at snappyhome.com if you order directly from them you will find it cheeper. Their costomer service is excellent and I recieved it 2 days after it was shipped. I love the machine. Although It is my first machine, I have found it very easy to use and it is not loud to me at all. I would definitely recommend this product.
