Pinzon 190 Gram Velvet Flannel Sheet Set Review

Pinzon 190 Gram Velvet Flannel Sheet Set

I confess that these were my first-ever flannel sheets.I was always afraid that they would pill and be uncomfortable.Boy, was I wrong! These are wonderful, soft, quality sheets that make me look forward to going to bed at night and even it harder to get out in the morning. They seemed a little expensive at $59.00 but I didn't think I'd get quality at any less expense. Now they are ten dollars less.I recommend you snap up this deal if you are looking for flannel sheets! You won't be disappointed! I'd give these 10 stars if I could!

Update:After the second winter season of using these, they are still as soft (if not softer) as they were when new. They haven't pilled or thinned anywhere and the seams and elastic are intact and like new.I can't say enough positive things about these sheets.I've purchased sets for gifts and a second set to use when these become worn, in case they were no longer available. If you're looking for flannel sheets, give these a try.I can't see how you'd find any better, at any price.

Product Description:
Pinzon velvet flannel sheets provide luxurious softness and comfort. With a flannel weight of 190 grams per square meter, this sheet set includes a 90-by-102-inch flat sheet, 60-by-80-inch fitted sheet, and two 20-by-30-inch pillowcases. The cotton is combed during the manufacturing process, which reduces the amount of uneven fibers and leaves only the longer and stronger fibers for weaving. The flannel is napped on both sides for cozy softness and then lightly sheared on both sides to eliminate the fine hairs that make standard flannel more susceptible to pilling. The end result is that Pinzon velvet flannel is made from the most pill-resistant flannel available. Because these sheets are made of 100 percent cotton, an all-natural fiber, they are soft and breathable. The fitted sheet, with elastic all around, fits snugly on mattresses up to 18 inches deep. The flat sheet and pillowcases feature a 4-inch, single-stitch hem. Pinzon velvet sheets wash and dry easily in the home machine and are made in Portugal.
Fabric Definition
Flannel: Flannel fabrics are noted for their fuzzy softness, warmth, and durability, and they can be dyed or printed. Thought to have been popularized in Wales in the 17th century, flannel was an all-wool fabric made of woolen or worsted yarns, with a brushed surface and a soft napped finish obscuring its weave. Flannel may be plain woven or twill woven and, today, most flannel fabrics are made of cotton fibers or synthetic rayon fibers that are slightly napped on both sides to resemble the old woolen or worsted yarn weaves. A wide range of flannel weights and textures is available. The fabric weight and quality of the napping affect the warmth and softness of the fabric. Many people prefer flannel bedding during the cold, winter months, but some flannel weights are appropriate in breatheability and comfort all year long.
History of the Region
Portugal's major textile factories are located in Guimaraes. Guimaraes is known as the "cradle" or "birth city" of Portugal, since it is home to the castle of Portugal's first king. As one of the country's most historic cities with well-preserved monuments, it is a popular tourist attraction. Among other sites to see are two squares with outdoor cafes and balconied houses, called Praça de Santiago and Largo da Oliveira. At Largo da Oliveira is the old Town Hall and the Church of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, with a Gothic shrine erected in 1340 standing before it. There are many legends about its origins, but a popular story says it marks the spot where Wamba, elected king of the Visigoths, refused his title and drove a pole into the ground swearing that he would not reign until it blossomed, and it sprouted immediately. Guimaraes hosts an annual 3-day festival of medieval art and costume in the first week of August, which dates from the middle of the 15th century and includes a torchlight procession and a medieval parade. Not only renowned for textiles and historical sites, Guimaraes is in the heart of the "Vinho Verde" region, so called for its locally produced fresh, young "green wines."

Pinzon 375-Thread Count PrimaLoft Comforter Review

Pinzon 375-Thread Count PrimaLoft Comforter

This is a very nice PrimaLoft comforter and comparable to high end store brands. The 375 thread-count cover looks and feels luxurious. I agree with the description that this is a medium weight comforter. It would be too warm for summer (in my opinion) but good for fall/winter depending on how warm you keep your bedroom. I think it would be comfortable to about 62 degrees; I like to sleep warm in a cool bedroom. The "sewn-through box construction" is nice because it keeps the PrimaLoft from shifting around; you don't get cold and warms spots.

I measured it and it is 88x96.Fits nicely on my queen pillow top mattress as a comforter which means it falls just to the bottom of the mattress -barely to the top of the box spring. You should measure your mattress to make sure this is wide enough for you because some mattresses are thicker than others even though they are all called "queen".It fits even more generously/luxuriously on a full/double bed which is the bed I'm using it on.

PrimaLoft is heavier than down when comparing the same comfort range. But it is a very good choice for people who have allergies or in a guest room where different people will be sleeping.I have only PrimaLoft in my guest bedrooms for this reason. PrimaLoft weighs more than a comparable-warmth down comforter but it is an excellent substitute for down and much warmer/luxurious than polyester fill.

Putting the comforter in the dryer for about 10 minutes on "air" will fluff it up.I always do this with my down & PrimaLoft comforters when I take them out of storage. The fibers/feathers get compacted in storage and therefore aren't as good at keeping you warm.

I recommend you purchase a duvet cover to keep the comforter clean and dust free. This is especially important if you have allergies. It is much easier to wash the cover than the comforter.
